What Really Matters

Have you ever moved? It is quite an ordeal going through your house and trying to decide what to take, what to discard. It is an exercise in evaluating, in knowing what is important. Do you really need 3 copies of Shakespeare’s plays? Will you ever use those plates that once belonged to your grandmother? Does anyone need 4 hammers?

There are times when we need to take stock of our lives and ask what is really important. In the church, stewardship is that time. It is not “just” the time when we put together budgets. It is the time we invite each other to ponder what really matters in our lives and how our financial stewardship reflects our deepest values.

Too often our giving is accidental rather than intentional. We give on the spur of the moment and out of our leftovers rather than out of prayerful consideration.

What if we used our stewardship as a way of growing our faith and orienting our lives? What if we used our giving to help us keep our lives in perspective?

What really matters to you? How does your giving answer that question?

We invite you to prayerfully consider how you might intentionally share with the PWUBC community. This chart can help you consider a monthly amount you may give to PWUBC.

Rather than just giving “whatever,” what would it mean if we were intentional about our giving? Could we decide to give a percentage of our income as a spiritual commitment to our faith, our gratitude, our sense of growing in faith?

Pick a percentage. It will increase your faith and allow you to orient your life and spending around what you decide is important.

What your pledge provides:

  • A monthly gift of $425 provides our church with Youth Ministry.

  • A monthly gift of $211 covers our electricity and oil.

  • A monthly gift of $141 removes the snow from our parking lot

  • A monthly gift of $70 provides our choir with music.

  • A weekly gift of $10 provides materials for children’s Sunday School.

It can also be helpful to think about what your weekly pledge adds up to over the year.

For example, a weekly pledge of $10 provides over $500 for the ministries of PWUBC. A weekly pledge of $20 provides over $1000 and a weekly gift of $50 provides PWUBC with $2600 for ministry and the life of the church.

PWUBC Pledge Form for 2024

Pledging helps our church plan for the coming year. We have a better idea of how much money we will be gifted with for the ministries and education of the church.

We ask each church family unit to fill out the anonymous pledge form below.

Answers are anonymous and will be used only to estimate giving for next year so that we can more accurately plan the ministry of the church in 2024.

Please only fill out the pledge form once.
