A Sense of Christmas

Christmas is a season when our senses come alive. We see the decorations, we smell the goodies cooking, we hear the familiar carols, we feel all the feelings of the season.

Join us in worship as we explore what it might mean to see Advent with our senses.

November 28: A Vision of Hope—Jeremiah 33:14-16,
Luke 21:25-36

December 5: The Smell of Peace - Malachi 3:1-4,
Luke 1:68-79

December 12: The Sound of Joy—Choir Cantata, “Christmas Seekers”

December 20: The Feel of Love—Luke 1:39-45,
Micah 5:2-51

December 24: The Taste of Eternity—Candlelight Communion Service—John 1:!-14

A New but Different Advent

As Advent 2021 arrives it feels as if we are just beginning to emerge from a year of Covid. The restrictions are beginning to slowly loosen. We are able to venture out, to gather. It feels like a new birth!

The perfect time for Advent! This year we invite you to join us as we begin to get a sense of this new reality by remembering our senses—hearing, smelling, seeing, feeling, tasting. We are going to seek to “sense” our way to Christmas.

It all starts on November 28 in worship. Immediately following worship we will gather in Lockwood Hall for our Advent Workshop. We weren’t able to have this last year but it is back, a wonderful time for children of all ages to make crafts that can decorate our homes.

As we gather we will be following the provincial guidelines. We ask that everyone wear masks. While it is not required we also strongly encourage everyone get vaccinated as a way of showing compassion for our community. We hope you will join us in person, but know that we will continue to stream our services on our YouTube Channel. If you miss the livestream they will be available later on Sundays on the same page.

The Longest Night Service: December 21 at 7:00 pm

For many the Christmas season is one in which our joy is tinged with grief.  Especially this year.  There is an empty place at the table, and a void in our hearts.  We need to acknowledge that grief.  Join us for a time of remembrance and thanksgiving.
