/Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. ~ Hebrews 11:1
Christmas is often called a time of hope. One symbol of hope is the Christmas lights that shine a light in the darkness, giving a sign that Christmas is nearing. This Christmas, I hope to enjoy the sights and smells of Christmas and am hopeful that everything is back to “normal”.
Until last year, we hosted our annual Buist family cookie making. This usually includes forty people over three generations. Last year we had one family come to make cookies, which was fun, but it is always more fun when there is a lot of chaos! This year, I hope that the whole family will be able to participate, and it will be exciting to see everyone again.
With our Advent workshop, I hope that the rules of the Covid protocols loosen so everyone can come together to make wreaths, do crafts, and decorate cookies. It’s not Christmas without some holiday spirit with people we know!
Our Christmas Nativity play is always a fun tradition. I hope that we will be able to perform the play this year, and that many children participate. I also hope that many people will be able to watch it, since who doesn’t like cute kids dressed up as cows and angels?
Finally, I hope that all families are able to gather together to celebrate Christmas Day and Jesus’ birth. One thing that Covid has taught me is that celebrations are always more fun when people who care about each other gather together, and hope is easier to feel when surrounded by those you love.
Prayer: God, Thank you for your gift of hope and for the love and care of our family and friends.
